What manufacturer makes are military weapons? USA
Ar-15/m16 platforms? Colt?

Most are Colt, but I think there are some others that found there way into service. Bushmaster, I believe, is one, Knight's Armament (SR-25, which is an AR-10, but whatever), DPMS possibly...

peck1234,

Please rephrase your question.

Are you asking who are the current manufacturers of the M4 being used by the bulk of soldiers in the US Army or any AR-type rifle in use in any role in the US military?

Mfg for the current US Army M16A2 and M4

In the past the M16's that I have used and seen were Colt, a few GM Hydramatics, and FN. Most of the current M16A2's are FN's made in the U.S. plants. The current M4 contract has been awarded to Colt.

Well, the Army has been phasing out the A2 in favor of the A4, mainly for all the rails on the hand guard, plus the flat-top upper. With the exception of basic training where I saw a few FNH A4s, everything I've come across has been a Colt. I *think* the Navy, which still uses the full-auto A3, has a new contract with bushmaster for a few more thousand weapons.
