These seem to be (at least at discounted prices) suspiciously "cheap". Anyone have any solid experience with them?

Specifically, optical quality - compared to other Leupold scopes.

And resilience. They are obviously being marketed toward the AR .223/5.56 applications, and although I assume Leupold has foreseen that many folk might put them on more lively platforms, and their rifle proof warranty, I still would like to hear any experiences. Anyone used them extensively on .308 class rifles?

Thanks in advance.

I just got one and put it on a 5.56NATO chambered AR. In that role, it works fine. It seems optically on par with the VXIIs, which are in the same price range.

I cannot imagine that they will have an issue with 308-class recoil.

Me neither, but never hurts to ask if anyone has had problems. Leupold seems to have managed to uphold their scope quality and at the same time not pushed their prices through the roof. So far.

Thanks for the response.

How cheap are y'all seeing them? I paid $290 OTD, and most online sources have them from $260-$300.

Prices I've seen have been varying...but around 290-300 seems to be the norm with shipping.

$263.00 delivered is the cheapest at the moment that I have seen.

That's less than some Weaver, Burris and other Leupold scopes of similar magnification and general specs I have seen. The cheapest Vari X II 1.5-4x that I see is $100.00 more. And only $63 more than the cheapest Vari-X 1 1-4x20 shotgun model (58790).

So if these have Vari-X II optical attributes they are a bargain of the year at circa $260-$300.
