About a month ago I asked for opinions on the reputation of the Ithaca 51 gas auto, and got about four replies real quick, for which I thank you all. The feedback I got was generally positive.Gun parts lists some parts,Ithaca still lists some parts,I had a deal in the works that was taking some time (old gent having second thoughts about selling) thought the piece was worth waiting for.I also cruise trap shooters .com, and saw that someone else posted the same question over there, but the replies were all negative.Seems that the 51's are very prone to breaking action bars, heres the problem,Gun parts does not carry the action bars, but Ithaca sometimes makes a limited run of them and the price is about $100.00. So upon reading this I scrapped the deal on the 51 and found a beautiful 1971 Rem 1100 for more $$, but think it was a good move, thanks again for the input.......Jack
