Very sad news. John from Gunworks in Colorado (capt_happypants on THR) died a few days ago.

It's not clear exactly what was wrong, but it looks like he died in his sleep. He was very young, and this is a huge shock.

Along with being my favorite gun store guy, John was a kind, funny person. He'll be missed.

My condolences to his family and friends. This is the third member in just a short few months to pass. Hopefully, he, Kentucky Rifle and labgrade are all up there, shooting at the eternal range together.

  I just met him at Gunworks not two weeks ago - he seemed to be in fine health. I wonder what was going on?

My condolences to his family...

Ian--I know. When some other guy at Gunworks told me on the phone, I almost told him what he could do with himself for joking around like that. When I stopped in today, I confirmed that it's true.

John's entire family is in Missouri. They were here yesterday for his funeral. John was 33 years old.

My sympathies to the family. We've lost some great members in the past few months, temporarily and permenantly. Sad to see that.

33 huh, :( Kinda makes one more appreciative of what you've got and realize life is way too short for anything less than smiles......................:(
RIP Capt Happypants

My condolences to the family. Captain Happypants had a great sense of humor. I'll miss him!

This is really a shock. While I never had the pleasure of meeting him personally, he was definitely one of the real characters here on THR.

33 is just so young.

RIP, capt_happypants.

WHAT?!?!?!

Oh man. Oh man.

John was a good buddy and a great guy to buy from.
I still owed him an apple pie, and I never got to say goodbye before we moved out here :(

:( :( :( :( :(

I feel like I've been hit by a freight train and I can't stop crying. He was also my favorite gun store guy. Gunworks won't be the same without him.

I didn't get to say goodbye to him before I moved to Virginia (just two weeks ago), and now I'll never get another chance.

Rest well, my friend.

Too Young

Sad...Sad for us and for his family and friends. Death takes
some of us too early, and we don't have a promise of tomorrow.

A guy that I grew up with was watching the Daytona 500 one Sunday. Stood up, walked to the fridge for a cold one and dropped dead before he got the door open. 26 years old and in perfect health. His wife said that he never moved after he fell. Massive stroke. Who can predict these things?

Condolences to all.
