R. Lee Ermey is now a Glock spokesman.

Ermey is most likely a very savvy businessman. He probably understands the value of this contract and what it will do for him. I'll also wager that he will NOT get rid of the other firearms in his battery, especially the military firearms.

Hey, at least the Gunny likes guns! Glock is OK by me. Hope he makes a big paycheck, he's worth it! :D

Their marketting campaigns and (IMO arrogant) tagline of "Perfection" is effective in causing a lot of people to forget that the Glock is far from perfect
I guess their tagline should be: "Glock - They're ok." Or maybe "Glock Adequacy."

Springfield already has Rob Leatham.
But unless one is a competition shooter odds are that you don't have a clue who Rob Leatham is. Good spokesmen are well know.

That said who cares if Gunny hawks the Glock. They're good guns especially for a new shooter. Easy to operate. Go bang every time the trigger is pulled. Have three built in safeties and won't go bang just because you drop it. AND they are very easy to maintain.

Glocks aren't perfect. The trigger absofreakinlutely sucks (which is why I eventually got rid of mine) and they aren't terribly accurate. Still all in all they do the job they are designed to do and do it pretty well.

As to their supposed ugliness - well - when I got my G22 I thought it was ugly but after a while it grows on ya kind'a like an ugly girl that really, really likes you. Eventually you just ignore the fact that she's no Marylin Monroe and focus on the person.

Yeah, good spokesmen aren't complete jerks, either. I've met Rob twice, and he is one of the more conceited people on the face of the earth. Like he's doing you a favor to talk to him.

Combining the 'Full Metal Jacket' and 'Mail Call' themes, does anyone else here gnash their teeth when one of the 'Mail Call' guests calls a rifle a gun?

I keep waiting for the Gunny to start marching them around with the rifle doing that famous chant: 'this is my rifle, this is my gun, one is for fighting, the other for fun'. One of the better scenes in the movie, IMHO.

I wonder if this has ever crossed the Gunny's mind. It has mine.

Is it true that he's been made an honorary 'Stabsfeldwebel' in the Austrian Army?

I think the only reason Glock got him as a spokeman was by giving him a free Glock 18 and unlimited amount of ammo..........

Speak for yourself, Romeo. :neener:

Of course Glocks are great guns...I just don't like 'em...
But I don't dislike them enough to get one of the very small ones in 10mm for my ankle...one day.

Call me a loony utilitarian, but I think an object's value lies in how it operates, not how it looks.
I'll call you narrow-minded or shallow. It's both.

Rob Leatham? The guy all over the gun magazines? A lot of us who don't know a ten-ring from a pinkie ring know who he is. I think you meant that unless one is interested in handguns, odds are...

Imagine what this could have done for Colt if they had thought about using him as a spokesman. Sure would have brought them out of the dumpster!

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Most of us would endorse dang near anything for money. And don't say you wouldn't cause I know you would.
