Threats--the Chicago way

It's Chicago, it's Daley-ville. Remember Richard M. Daley, mayor before Emmanual? "If it was up to me, no one except law enforcement officers would own a handgun."
quoth Wikipedia, "Richard M. Daley":
After Mick Dumke, a reporter for the Chicago Reader, questioned the effectiveness of the city's handgun ban, Daley picked up a rifle with a bayonet from a table of confiscated weapons and told him, "If I put this up your butt, you'll find out how effective it is. Let me put a round up your, you know."
Boss man, one-party machine politics.

Instead of trying to fix his cestpool town rahm emanuel wants to take everybody else's right's. I have NO use for that clown at ALL.

Ever since Emperor "DICK" Daley I, the Peoples Socialist Republik of Chikago is not a place I want to be.

I remember several years back, when oldest brother & wife relocated from the Burbs of Chicago to Kansas City, KS, one of his first statements was "WOW! it is great to be back in America", warming his hands to the bonfire of the Illinois FOID cards.

obama happened.

I think it's deeper than that - politicians are coming out of the woodwork and really stepping on the backs of these tragedies to further their own agendas... and "the people" are eating it up.

I hate to say it but based on what I'm seeing now, this country really is in trouble. It's as if the "Independent Thinker" is a rapidly dying breed and the gov't is counting on that... once they have a country full of sheep they can pillage this country for all its worth.

my $.02

Just another example of why we must do our best to keep all former Chicago politicians out of positions which may have any effect upon national policy.

If a fella's successful in Chicago politics, he's a threat.

And this guy's ONLY a mayor!

Obviously you don't understand how things are done in the Windy City.

They are not just corrupt, but openly and proudly corrupt. :barf:

Thelaststand may have it. 18 USC 241 is the federal "conspiracy against civil rights" statute.

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; (...)

I would defend any individual business's right to do or not do trade with anyone for any legitimate business reason, but if they are acting in collusion with or at the behest of a sworn public official acting under color of authority to financially "injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate" on the basis of lawful exercise of 2A rights, I think a case can be made for conspiracy to violate 18/241.

Sounds like it's time for the NRA to go spank Rahm in civil litigation again.

My momma and the moderators have told me, "if you can't say some nice........" so I'll just be quiet.

What, exactly, can a mayor do to a bank? Our federal government can't seem to exact any penalties from them when they're funding terrorists.

While he is only a mayor, it's worthy to note that he is currently (for the past nearly 5 years) the consummate broker of "chicago politics" style of power.

Although what he has to say might be disregarded as the ramblings of a madman upset about jumping the goodship BHO too soon, his gasses are valuable to us on the side of the Bill of Rights in the sense of noting who shows their hand by following his lead.

This clown has two things to contend with; Bloombergenvy in that Rahm's only the mayor of "the second city" and marginalization (to a degree) for having left the orbit of planet "O". He'll do anything to stay in the national limelight until his attempted return to the federal level of things. Bill of Rights be damned.

This is par for the course in Illinois. We just hit rock bottom in the 50 states for financial stability. Gun control offers the perect distraction for a state and local Chitown govement in a total mess. This has happened before.
