Wasn't feeling so hot yesterday so I went to bed early, around 6:00pm. Woke up today at 9:00am, figured I was fighting off some kind of bug. Made some coffee, breakfast, got the paper. Usual stuff. Debated going to the range, pouring rain and windy but I'd be one of the few there... Grabbed the mail and found a pouch type envelope. Oh good, the Remington 511 bolt I bought over on Rimfirecentral came. Popped it in the rifle down in the work room, cycled it a few times, and it looks good to go, no ejection or feeding problems. I was just putting my .22 ammo in my range bag when the phone rang. Unusual considering no one really calls my house. Pick it up and it's my Uncle's boss. He's moving down to South Carolina, getting rid of a bunch of things and wanted to know if I wanted some of the old guns he was getting rid of.
I offered to look up the prices and sell them for him but he's the type that just wants it done and said he didn't want to bother with all that. So I put the range bag away and headed over to his place. Went through his basement and he grabbed an old .50 caliber ammo can "here take this too"
About 50 rounds of 12 guage, a lot of .22, a orion sportsmans .22 ammo dispenser and 40 rounds of .25 auto, where that came from he wasn't sure. He cut the chain off the gun rack because he wasn't going to deal with finding the key and proceeded to hand me the following:
Savage Model 7 without a magazine (going to be looking that up shortly)
Marlin leveraction, model 336SC in .35 Remington
Ithaca Model 72 Saddlegun, .22 caliber (I thougth this thing was a Henry, at a glance I'd probably still be hard pressed to tell them apart without looking at the factory markings.)
and an Ithaca model 37 featherlight, missing it's front bead sight.
Not to mention 4 or 5 bottles of what looks like 1950's era Hoppes #9 and "gunslick" gun lubricant. All the rifles, and the shotgun, are in perfect working order. A little dust and a little rust on the bluing but nothing some elbow grease won't get rid of. Gonna go down to the workshop and start working now. Then I'll have to look for a new gunsafe to fit all these in lol.
