Rainier price increase at Midway

I agree, the price on the Ranier 155 grain 40 S&W bullets went from $82.99/1000 up to $98.99/1000. I won't be buying any more I'm afraid. Its a good thing I bought 3000 of'em for $225 and free shipping last year, also got 2000 Rem 125 grain SJHP's for $150, last year. The price on those has skyrocketed as well.

From now on I'll be buying from the local gun show's, I've been seeing the plated bullets going for $90/1000 in 40 S&W. Time to buy another thousand.:D Next gun show......2 weeks out.:D

And I think those prices are including shipping
Yes they do. I just got 2000 .45 Berry's from them. I believe everyone when they say bullets are due for another big hike this year. Went again and got some more.

It's going to be a long month with everyone posting these deals since I can't buy any more bullets until next month :( Thanks for all of the tips on better prices everyone.

Liar! :) Stop buying Glocks and you'll have $$$ for ammo! (Not that I should talk. I bought a 1911 and can't afford to feed it!)

Thanks for tipping me off to TJ Conevera. Never knew about them and they're pretty close by. Just placed an order for 1000 Win .45ACP 230 Gr. FMJ. Even with state sales tax it was still cheaper than buying Rainier plated bullets from Midway with the recent price increase. I've been a longtime customer of Midway but I'm very disappointed in them right now. The increase seems excessive.

Ha! You may be onto something there :) It is my fault for making a deal not to buy any gun stuff this month. I don't know what I was thinking.

I think I also may send Rainier an EMail stating the same thing as those are my feelings as well.

I don't think I'll bother contacting them. If you get a response, it'll be along the lines of:
Dear Sir,
Thank you for contacting Rainier Bullet Co. We love hearing from shooters! We are disappointed to hear that you will no longer purchase our product due to high prices. But please understand, these increases are necessary for us to stay in business. The rising costs of lead, fuel, and other commodities have forced us to raise prices to cover our costs while still maintaining a healthy bottom line.

If there's anything we can do to help you in the future, do not hesitate to contact us!

I don't think any company intentionally prices themselves out of the market.

-->Tanderson, thank you so much for your email. It is certainly not our goal to price ourselves out of any customers. We’ll get on the internet and check out the situation. Thanks, Phyllis Welker, Customer Service/Sales,--

Peace

Relax. The same thing happened last year. Everybody needs to make a profit to stay in business. We knew that prices were going up the first of the year, just like 2007. Natchez had the letters from the ammo vendors posted online. The September 2007 price increases of 15-25% were a prelude to this. Now it's another 25%. Rainier may lose some of your business, but they are watching their bottom line so they can remain afloat during the coming recession.

Recent purchases:
12/31/07 158gr Hornady LSWCHP 300ct $16.69 today $24.49
12/2/07 124gr. Remington GSHP 500ct $44.99 today $57.99
12/2/07 135gr. Speer SBGDHP 100ct $17.79 today $20.49
11/17/07 124gr. Rainier FP 3000ct $192.89 today $267.99
7/23/07 148gr Remington LDWC 2000ct $73.89 today $99.99

more drastic?
12/29/2006 125gr. Hornady HAP 1000ct $58.29 today $115.99
1/21/2005 500 Winchester USA 180gr. 40S&W ammo $79.99 today $186.99
12/29/2004 500 Wolf 230gr 45 Auto $66.25 today $117.99

I bought raw materials in 2007 because I knew the prices were going up. I started reloading in 2005 because I saw prices increasing. I stocked up on XM-193 in 2005 because I saw what was coming.

The writing is(and has been)on the wall.

Midway is rapidly driving this customer away. Their shipping has always been horribly expensive. If you buy powder and primers, they charge two hazmat fees. Their new bullet prices are way above the competition. I like the guys, but just can't afford them anymore.

How bad is shipping on "Zero" brand bullets since they can't manage to do a shipping calculator and just say "Shipping will be calculated and added to order." which makes me nervous.

Their shipping is pretty reasonable. Last batch of bullets I ordered, the shipping was $15ish if I recall for 3000 9mm 135gr. Hopefully they'll starting the USPS flat rate shipping in the future,

GhostHolster sells Zero bullets real reasonable. Shipping is included in their price.

So does RozeDistribution, but I have to pay tax with them as I am in Alabama like them.

Ghost Holster has Roze beat right now, but I have ordered from them in the past when they were best even with tax.

T J Conevera also has good deals.

I have done buisness with all three and have been very happy.

I see the lead surcharge for berrys has gone back down. Box of a 1000 357 158gr is 65 bucks with 9 dollar surcharge for total of 74 dollars.
That's good to know. I know that Berry's has been spending a lot of time on GTR ( Glock Talk Reloading ) talking to people about price and also what they would like to see in the way of some new style bullets. It sounds like they might be listening.
