Does anybody know what LAPD is issuing as far as glocks go? My friend is trying to get on with them and wants one similar to practice with. I was under the impression that it was Glock 17's, however somebody said something that led me to believe that it may be a .40 now.

any info would be great.

I believe they issue Glock 22 and 23's. They are both .40 S&W. However I believe they have a wide range of approved guns.

I don't think they actually issue anything but they opened up the "approved" list after the Bank of America shootout. I know Glock, 1911s and of course S&W and Beretta are on it. Your friend needs to ask a recruiter about what else may be on the list.

Tell your friend to get an HK USP or USP Compact - or perhaps the P2000 and never look back. Very accurate, and I dare say more reliable than the Glocks (which I think is a very reliable weapon)
