Random unidentified cartridge

Found this in a batch of reloading stuff a friend gave me. Any idea what it is? What additional information would you need to identify it?

Looks like 7.7x65r Japanese for there navy for vickers and Lewis guns, which is 303. British think it's a tracer to. But being 1941 and the dl I think it's Canadian made.

Should have Nitrocellulose powder and cordite.

According to David A. Cushman , headstamps of the .303 British calibre service ammunition round , which I just found by googling , DC is Dominion cartridge , of Canada and G mark 4 Z is tracer , loaded with cordite , Canadian pattern .

Yup looks like a .303 British/ I didn't know the Japs had a version of there own.

Japanese Marines had Lewis guns. I don't know if they were bought or slavishly copied to be in .303. It would seem not a lot of trouble to make them in either of the 7.7s.
