What do you guys use? I need either a bag with a bunch of compartments or a wood case capable of holding four handguns and ammo/tools/etc.

Can’t seem to find much.

creedmoor sports sells wood range boxes for 2, 4 and 5 guns. bag or box is a preference.

I have a box but I think they are cumbersome, but still prefer over a bag.

I dont know what type of laws you have about carrying ammo in same container with guns it TN but in CA it is illegal to carry an unloaded gun with ammo in same container, they must be in seperate container and gun must be locked thats one reason why I use the box it has locks.

I use a case I got from Gil Hebard years ago - still works great. It might be made by "Gun Ho" - holds 5 handguns, scope holder is mounted to the box and all my other junk goes in the box.

Dave,
Champions Choice in LaVergne, TN, off I-24 south of Nashville, carries the Gun-Ho boxes made by Pedro's Luggage of St Paul, MN. Gun-Ho boxes come in 4 and 5 gun versions.

I found a nice shooters bag at Walmart purely by accident. It was $19. I carry two guns, all my magazines, eye and ear protection and a bunch of other stuff. Works great, but it's not lockable. Don't know if that is required in Texas, but I don't think so (I'll find out this weekend at teh CHL class).

+1 on the Walmart bag, although I think mine was $12.99. I use it for ammo, magazines/speedloaders, targets, hearing protection, tools, cleaning kits/supplies, gun rugs, etc. It has a couple of pockets on the outside for safety glasses and even an expandable mesh pocket on the side that'll hold about 1000 spent cases.

Here in the Commonwealth, we need to transport guns in a locked case (or with trigger locks and I hate trigger locks). I got a nice aluminum case on eBay with combo locks that's like a briefcase with a lid on each side. It'll hold 4-6 handguns depending on the size of the gun. It cost about $25 plus shipping.

I'm another Walmart bag guy. Mine is stamped with the Hoppe's #9 Logo. I can carry plenty of ammo and 2-3 guns easily. When my wife shoots with me, she carries her stuff in the Craftsman bag that came with a crappy cordless drill. It works fine, too. Here's a pic of both.

(Ted obviously didn't feel like giving up the couch for the photo shoot.)
