Now that the kids have left and the chaos has died down, it was a good day to go to the range. I brought my SW 99s (.40 & .45) as well as my new truck gun, a Beretta 9000s in .40.

As usual, both my SW 99s shot perfectly, very accurate and no failures at all. Put 2 boxes each through them and I was shooting well. Next I load up the little Beretta and I'm just not consistent at all with it. I was shooting low and left so I figured it must be the gun not me. It came with 2 mags - one has the pinky extension the other does not. I had always just used the pinky mag but decided to work the other a bit as well.

Lo and behold, I'm starting to shoot this as well as my others, letting my pinky curl at the bottom of the mag. I do notice the Beretta is much more sensitive to trigger control than my others and I have to really focus on a steady squeeze (yes, I should all the time anyway). Just goes to show that you have to really get familiar with all your pistols and not make assumptions. Also, now that I've put 5 boxes through the Beretta, I notice it is operating a bit smoother - especially the trigger and decocker...

Ya, I hear ya. I can shoot my S&W 36 snub better than I can my Para P12. Don't even get me started on how much better I shoot my 586 than every other handgun I have ever used. Some guns just shoot great in an individuals hand and others are terrible.
