i went out to shoot m s&w 15-22 and ended up icking of brass for an hour or so. i got some 300 win/a bag of 308/1 and 3/4 bags of 223/some 06/2 bags of 45 some 45 gap(good for my friend)/some 40 and 9mm

I always come back from the range with more brass than I came with. I guess we're both members of the "Dumpster Diving Club". And I yell at my wife when she trash pics...LOL.
 
This is a special sub fraternity of reloading that some of us belong to.:D Good find for sure. Be aware that if you find and keep more than 3 bags of a specific brass you don't already have a firearm for you are obligated to buy dies and the firearm required to shoot them as soon as possible according to the rules.:evil::D
 
Notice to Brass Pickers!

At least wait until it quits rolling. It's not polite to knock down the shooter just to grab the ejected brass.:eek:

You don't happen to live in Arizona, do you? I ask because I have a shooting spot out in the middle of no where on public lands that is always good for various brass. I hit that place a couple of times each month and find ton's of brass.
 
We generally shoot at a public range in one of our many state forests here in WV. We always pick up our brass, however, this particular range is care-taken by volunteers, and, technically, this range has signs stating that fact and says something to the effect that you should only pick up brass that is yours. I dare say that we cheat some now and then, as do many others. I am told that the volunteers sell it for scrap. I do leave brass that I can't use for whomever. This range is the most used range in any of our state parks, I don't know what the policy is for other locations, but I just can't stand to see it go to waste, as it were. It's no wonder I pray for forgiveness at night, I can't help it!
 
Nice find. My range must have a ton of brass hounds. Its rare to find anything other than 9mm laying around. I drove up as a guy was sweeping up yesterday and he left a nice neat pile of 45acp and 9mm, maybe 100 total. That's my best score so far. Out in Midland where my dad shoots the brass is abundant.
 
I found 3 223s, & 5 45acps yesterday at the range. :(

I think pretty much everyone at my club reloads.
There's never any brass laying around.
 
I consider brass-scrounging to be just like picking up nickels and dimes. Even though I have thousands upon thousands of cases of all kinds of calibers, I still pick up what I run across. Can't ever have enough nickels and dimes.
 
That's what I tell my wife: If you knew of a place where people walked by and decided they didn't want their pocket change anymore and threw handfulls of pennies, nickles, dimes & quarters on the ground, free for the taking- would you be out there with a bucket scooping it up?

I walk around the range saying to myself "Nickel...nickel...dime...nickel...ohh, quarter...nickel..."
 
Lately, it seems the .45ACP left behind is either small primer pockets or crap I wouldn't load anyway.
 
Three banker type box's, filled with rubber much will stop anything up to 44mag. I, haven't tried rifles yet. Also if you are just shooting .22's you only need one box.
 
Whats wrong with small primer? I load that stuff all the time. I actually kind of like it since the small primers seem to load easier in my press. They all go bang and put a hole in the paper...

Is there any reason that small primer has such a bad rep?
