Hi everybody at THR,

I will spend some time in these three cities during my vacation this summer, and I was wondering where I could rent guns and shoot (as a foreign tourist).

For Orlando, I found topics speaking about places like Oak ridge gun range, Shoot straight or East orange shooting sports, but they (the topics) seems a bit old now (some are nearly 2 years old).

Are these places ok ? And the location where they are ? I plan to come to the range with my wife and kids, so a "clean and friendly" place would be great.

In Miami, I only know "Ace's", where I go every time I stop by Miami (And everytime I stop there, I want to buy a Kriss TDI ;) ). But maybe there's some other nice places to discover, and cheaper too.

Thanks for your help and advices

Bob

I went to a place and rented a full auto Uzi that was near Tyndal AFB near Panama City. Dont remember the name of it but you can do an internet search and come up with some fairly quickly then give them a call to see what they rent out.

East Orange Shooting Sports (Orlando) is still a great place, in fact it's expanded. Oak Ridge Gun Range is in the same part of town, but has moved to a brand new building on Orange Ave. (was on Oak Ridge Ave). I'd recommend East Orange over Oak Ridge, but both are fine I think.

It's probably one of the Jay's stores in PC, too far from Orlando though, If you drove, and are coming back up, I frequent this Shoal River place near Crestview/Mossy Head, not too far from I-10, they just upped their rates to $15 a day but it's a good outdoor range for rifles, shotguns, skeet, handguns, friendly RO too.

East Orange Shooting Sports is a great range, and a bit larger than Oakridge Gun Range. They do rentals, both rifle and pistol, I believe.

Both are in OK areas, Oakridge being just a bit south of downtown Orlando, and East Orange is closer to the UCF college area.

Shoot Straight is alright as well, but more outside of the "downtown" area, and I personally don't shop there as they like to jack prices on their guns way up, only so they can show them as "on sale" when they set up at the local gun shows.

I'm just north of Orlando and found this while looking at East orange's site.

Title 18, United States Code, Sec. 922(g)(5)(B) makes it unlawful for any nonimmigrant alien in the United States to “ship, transport, receive, or possess firearms or ammunition”. Further, section 922(d)(5)(B) makes it unlawful “for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person is an alien”.

And also this;
Sec 922(y)(2) grants an exception if the alien is “in possession of a hunting license or permit lawfully issued in the United States”. We have the ability here to process a license to be in lawful compliance immediately and for a nominal fee (less than $10). We need an ID such as a passport or driver’s license in order to process this license. This license should be good for the duration of your visit and good in any part of the country unless otherwise prohibited (check the local laws wherever you are going). You may process this license ahead of time by visiting the website here, and select the Apprentice Hunting License option.

I live next to a Shoot Straight and shoot there a lot, 2-3 times/week and while it is a little overpriced for weapons it's a friendly and good place to shoot.

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks guys for all your answers :)

As I will stay 8 days, I think I'm gonna try different ranges.

Too bad I can't bring my own guns with me...:(
