Got the Ruger SR22 pistol and took it to the range for some shooting fun.

I normally clean a firearm after purchasing it, but I decided to see how the SR22 fires fresh out of the box.

I bought 2 more mags on ebay for $60 shipped for a total of 4 mags.

I used an assortment of ammunition (was reading that the SR22 pretty much digest anything you feed it).

Remington Golden Bullet
Remington Wildcat 22
CCI Mini Mags
Winchester Super-X

I didn't keep perfect track of the amount of ammo used, but I was really trying to put some ammo through it and get it nice an dirty. I would estimate I put at least 15 magazines through it.

Had to adjust the rear sight for elevation, this was accomplished by my trusty jewelers screwdriver set I brought with me.

Reliability results was ONE failure to fire (It was some old Remington Golden Bullet) in all the shooting.

The CCI Mini mags definitely gave me the tightest group of the day at ~2" at 10 yards.

The Winchester Super-X gave some decent groups.

The Remington Golden bullet didn't group very well at all. I can get ~1" groups with Golden Bullet out of my Mark III 22/45, but the 22/45 is a far more precise pistol than the SR22.

Surprisingly the Remington Wildcat 22 grouped respectably at ~3" at 10 yards.

All of the shooting was done standing un-supported.

All in all the SR22 is a pretty decent shooter. I paid $369 for it minus gift cards and Visa point from Cabela's, so the total was ~$150 out the door.

Breaking down the SR22 for cleaning is a pretty simple matter at the pistol cleaned up easily. Definitely a LOT easier than cleaning my Mark III 22/45.

I give the SR22 a 8.5 out of 10.

Pros:
Reliable, cost effective, Ruger customer service, eats all types of ammo.

Cons:
Size(a bit small if you have meaty hands), the hammer kept slapping my hand during shooting.

I purchased an SR22 three weeks ago and really like it. I have put six different brands of ammo through it and have only had two fail to fire.

I purchased four additional magazines from Impact Guns at $28.99 each.

The SR22 is the only 22lr pistol I actually enjoy shooting.

By the way I had a really hard time changing the grip to the larger one.

I have two SR22 pistols. I may buy a third when I find them on sale again, $299.

I have a backyard range where I shoot the Ruger (and others) about 5 times a week, days and evenings (low light laser/light practice).
I have no idea how many Wal Mart 550 bulk packs the guns have shot.

I seldom clean them. For a 22 they don't tend to get too dirty.

Good guns.
I have 7 magazines. I wish Ruger mags weren't so expensive. I'd like to have 15-20 for the SR22. I do a good bit of rapid fire, especially in low light, and I go through magazines fast.

I'm 1000+ rounds in on an SR-22.

No issues of any kind, at least 6 different brands of ammunition

Pretty good gun, not target quality, but I knew that going in.
