I bought the cheapest ammo I could find: about $3.75 per box of 25 "target 8-shot 2.75"

Gun functioned flawlessly. (I guess I put it back together right!) Since I'd never fired a shotgun before, it took me about ten rounds to get consistent on the sights. After that it was no problem to take out the large center of the shotgun target on the 50" range the American Shooting Center designates for defensive shotgun practice.

But even with the "light" 2.75 shells it was a bit of a shoulder pounder. Also, those 8-slug target shells didn't spread much at all at that range, but generally made 1 inch holes in the paper. Does this mean the same round could be used for home defense, and act something like a fragible bullet?

You know, I liked the Mossy so much, I've tempted to keep the Saiga I just got unfired, and then sell it later on.

That's your $75 Mossie, right? Glad it works....

Close range performance from even small shot loads is awesome. Once the patterns open up, effect diminishes, though there's still plenty of moxie if all the pellets stay on target.

Read the old thread on proper mounting techniques. Light loads shouldn't rock you.

No. Someone luckier than me found one for $75.00. I paid twice that, but mine was virtually new on the inside (had some external scratches). And I'll try to find that mounting thread. I fired from a standing position, basically the same as I would have a rifle.

PMT is one of the TFL floaters at the top here.

Shooting it like a rifle is part of the prob.
