I went to make my own version of fireworks today, starting with 125rds (+/-) of 12ga shells and ending with a bunch o' 9x19 and 45ACP.
The range was more crowded than usual, but that's common on a holiday. What made me pleased beyond words was how the VAST majority of the shooters on the pistol range were NOT speaking English. The vast majority were Filipino or Vietnamese or some flavor of South American, and I was clearly the token fat white guy. I spoke to several folk while I waited for a lane, and they informed me that they were naturalized citizens who came to the range to celebrate the Fourth in an appropriate fashion.
Of all the BBQs and fireworks likely to be enjoyed, I could think of nothing better to speak to the intent of the holiday than these immigrant citizens spending the day at the gun range.
