This past weekend Jon and I were at a cabin with about 30 other people. The cabin was located on 500 acres of land and several other cabins were scattered about it. None of which were close enough for us to see.
I took several of my dad's guns and mine. We had everyone that was going to shoot sign the 4 rules. On the one side of the the cabin was a range set up (sort of). It was 4 posts of wood not very thick 2 standing up with the other 2 crossing the first 2. We hung targets up on these posts. We took everyone out and set them up with some .22s and some of the people wanted some more powerful stuff.
One other guy brought a Glock 9 mm. I had my dad's Ruger MKII slabslide target pistol, K 38, Model 60-4, G19, S&W 13 and my Ruger SP 101. We had a couple of guys brave enought to try some of the 357s and 38 special. Many of the rest of them only tried the .22. We had at least 5 or 6 people shoot for he first time. Even our pastor shot off a couple of rounds. He did well too.
The only problem we had was one time when one of the ...uhhhh....girlie girls shot the G19. She pulled the trigger and turned around in a complete circle wanting to drop it, but didn't want to drop it in the snow. Basically she aimed the gun at everyone there. We knew she wouldn't pull the trigger again since she really didn't like it. I quickly ran up and took it from her. It was kinda funny, but broke a rule. She did have her finger off the trigger so that was good.
Overall it was a good experience. Many people who had never handled a gun before got the chance to use one and some enjoyed it. I think some of them are much more open now to the idea of guns and that they are good. Very successful weekend.
Thanks for listening sorry no pics. Maybe I can get some sometime.
