Ive been wanting to purchase a nice fixed blade knife lately. I'm extremely interested in the Ranger Shiv, and the Ranger Shank models. They are offered with cord wrapped and scale handles. I know Ontario has a good reputation for their quality. Construction is 1095 steel and made in the USA. Anybody have any comments or suggestions?

I saw the originals, and thought Justin seemed like a good guy. I was actually just looking online at the Ontarios last night. My concern with using these two is the utter lack of guard. I would personally be a lot happier with the Ranger Assault in micarta.

Thats a sexy blade J.

I decided to go ahead with my purchase of a Ranger Shiv. Ive been looking at those models for quite some time and has considered it as a Christmas gift to myself. I'd like to eventually construct or have constructed some type of kydex sheath so that I can carry this knife IWB. Now that I've bought this I can move on to wringing my hands over the beautiful railroad spike knifes that a local forge creates.
