We tormented the RAP 401 the other day. It was an informal blast as long as you last test. No bench shooting.
Ammo tested:
S&B 115
UMC 115
WWB 115
CCI Blazer 115
Speer Gold Dot 124
Silver Bear HP 12?
Some South African in plain brown box
There may be one or two other brands I forget.
Only problem encountered one falure to extract cheap Russian Silver Bear. The range temp was over 100 and the gun was hot as hell and dirty. The only thing, this gun did need a break in period to feed hollow points(it choked on the first few mags of Hp during a previous session). That was really the purpose of this range session. I have no hesitation about feeding HP to this gun now.
The trigger smoothed up nicely with use and is pretty slick for such a cheap gun. Accuracy is more than adequate. The gun inspires confidence. I shot it side by side with a cz and Damn me to hell for saying it but they could be kin. The CZ is definitely from a better neighborhood though.
Double action was not unbearable. Neither mag with this gun is factory. Both are rather well made Astra 75 mags. The safety and decocker are perfect with a very positive engagement.
Overall fit and finish is very good in my opinion with deep even blueing. There are none of the sight problems mentioned on this forum.
It may not be as reliable as a glock but I would carry it if I carried. I say buy one if you can find one. They are a hoot to shoot. A deal at twice the price.
