SAVANNAH — Police continued searching Wednesday for a second man wanted in connection with a rape in which the victim fought off her attackers, shooting one of them.

The woman told officers she was sitting in a parked car with her boyfriend Monday night when two men came up to the vehicle with a handgun and ordered them out of the car, according to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police.

The two men took a purse and wallet from the couple and then attacked the woman. They ripped her pants off and began sexually assaulting her, police said.

But when one of the men put his gun down, the woman grabbed it and fired four shots.

One shot struck one of the attackers in the neck, causing him to fall over.

The woman and her boyfriend jumped back into their car and drove off. The men followed and, using the gun, broke the car's rear windshield, police said.

The couple got away and went to a home where they called police.

Officers later found Eric Easterling bleeding on a porch. Easterling, 20, was taken to a hospital and faces charges of armed robbery and sexual assault-related charges, police said.

Police said investigators were still trying to track down the second suspect.

The woman was treated at a hospital and released.

Good for her! Let's hope she decides to get her carry permit now!

Outstanding! Well wishes for this courageous young lady!

Here's hoping both she and the boyfriend (where was he during the assult?) have learned the value of self protection with a firearm and carry their own.

If they don't realize how useful a firearm can be now, they never will. Something tells me that it clicked for the woman regarding how useful a gun can be.

Just like the anti's keep saying ... She'll just take the gun away and use it against you!

Only if you put the stupid thing down first.

Good for her. I'm hope the emotional trauma isn't too severe.

her boyfriend

couldn't do anything,he was an un armed victim.
What was he supposed to do? the guy with the gun was the one (probably)
on top of the girl.
I imagine the BF was to far away face down on the ground (wishing he had a gun)
the rapist put down the gun for a second (probably to unzip his pants).
The girl deserves a medal.
