Ever wonder how many of these rapper "shootings" are self inflicted for the publicity? It seems they are almost never anything but a minor flesh wound and they are usually "treated and released" in a few hours. This latest one about a guy being shot at on the freeway is a perfect example. A bullet hole in the back window, the guy has a scratch on the head , treated and released. Publicity stunt, IMHO.

I'd say common sense argues against that theory. I would find it a much harder shot to shoot at a person's head and deliberately just barely graze it as opposed to center-punching it.

On average most shots fired appear to miss LEO and non-, criminal and good guy. I would hesitate to pin bad shooting just on the rappers.

Honestly, I think it is a little far-fetched to think that many of these guys (minus a few psychos) would purposely shoot themselves in order to gain publicity. Last time I heard a rapper purposely shoot himself was Buchwick Bill (of the Geto Boys). Never heard of him? Well, maybe shooting his eye out, snapping photos and putting it on his next album didn't quite get him enough attention, I guess. Add to that the fact that he is a dwarf, I really think most rappers would rather take a safer route like insulting President Bush (ala Kanye West) to get their publicity.

True hip-hop story- We get all walks at the range I go to. One Sunday after-Church I found myself at the range shooting a Nagant revolver with the proper but expensive ammo (Fiocchi @ fifty cent a pop, and I do mean pop). I was getting 2" @ 25 yards, groups offhand (all the stars & moon was aligned that day). A young fella dressed in black baggie pants, matching t-shirt and oh yes black duster overcoat (can you say Matrix). He goes to station 3 (I'm at station 6) at the 25 yard range and pulls a .50 AE Desert Eagle out of his waist band:what: . He takes a box of shells (20 @ a buck a BOOOM) out of the duster and proceeds to load it. He holds it one hand in a standard side ways stance (standard if you are 50 Cent) and touches one off  . The 25 yard pistol target was unscathed as was the 2 foot backer board. He does this 5-6 more times and is rewarded with one .50 cal hole at 11 o'clock on target one's backer board. He looks at me in frustration. I say let me try it. He gives me the handcannon. I open the slide to check if it is loaded. It is and I use my standard offhand, two hand hold and aimed directly at the X ring not knowing where it shot....... I fired two very controled shots and both landed in the X ring one above the other bracketing the X. With that I handed it back to the young man and said "I see nothing wrong with it". He looked at me like I came from Mars:D .

kjeff50cal (BTW the 50cal in my screen name is because of my blackpowder guns I shoot:cool: )

I implied the wrong thing- I don't think they actually shot themselves, but that they claimed to be shot at and faked the "wound". It may sound crazy, and maybe it is, but how much is nation wide publicity worth?

Publicity ?

Street cred is everything...

On the other hand, I suspect some of these wannbe-gangsta types wouldn't know the business end of a Glock if it had a yellow post-it note on it, so they fake it, same with lots of professions, not just confined to the entertainment world.

But there ARE some hard core rappers that were gangsta and likely have more street fighting experience than many of us on this board ever will. If you look at any of 50 Cent's albums, any time he's holding a pistol, its rightside up and sighted for business.

Back in MN, some bangers would come to the indorr range and spray their targets with randomly distributed nine mil, slapping each other's backs with comments like "You KILLED it, Leroy!" Some other people in adjacent lanes took to shooting out the X or they eyes on their tagets with wadcutters...and these guys thought they were getting that good. Don't think it was a good idea to misuse the bangers' property...

y can i picture them sitting there celibrating with me wit ha small smile on my face the way i see it if the bangers cant shoot then there will be less deaths when they start their drive bys right?

"besides the probably dont even lead their targets as it is"

Not only are they bad shots , I cant understand a thing they say or the music
