Rate of twist of .22-250 rem 700 bdl(1988)?

One that old will be a 1/14 twist.
It will handle boat-tail spitzers up to 55 grain, and the Sierra flat base semi-pointed 63 grain bullet.

My 700 ADL won't shoot the 60 gr. Nosler Partition good at all but my Weatherby Mk V with a 1:12 twist will. 55 gr. and less do fine though. The main thing I hate about my 700 is the short throat wont allow seating of the bullets farther out.

I would favor the 52/53 grain bullets. Something about 3500/3600 FPS interests me. But the bullet can't be one with a light jacket.

short throat & seating depth
My 1/14" Rem700 has about 1600rds through it. The throat has eroded such that optimal results now come from an OAL in the 2.480"/2.500" range for the 55gr V-max. Lyman book OAL for the same bullet is 2.345".
As the throat wore out I noticed accuracy dropping off and flyers showing up. Seating the next batch of bullets further out restores accuracy.
I only trim cases back to 1.908" (not 1.902") and then let them grow
to 1.917" (5 thou beyond SAAMI case length). This helps maintain a bit more neck length than usual, which helps to hold the shallow-seated bullet in place.
Caution: YMMV because your 700's throat wear is different than mine. All of the above only works because this particular rifle is worn down, and the long brass & shallow seating depths were worked up to.

Agree with oldpapps. The 53gr Hornady match bullets give great results on paper. As do the Nosler 52gr Custom Comps. The 55 V-max are also a real winner.
Have yet to try 50grainers, but would expect great results there as well.
I never got the heavier bullets (60gr & up) to consistently shoot under 1" at 100. This was in the early days and maybe I wasn't pushing them fast enough.
Factory stuff is good too:
Winchester's 45gr JHPs USA white box are very accurate too, as are their 55gr PSP in Super-X.
