I am shooting an 8mm Mauser (.323). I did some loading years ago for a friend with a 7X57. We tried many bullets/powder combos before we found an accurate load. The most accurate was 175gr long bullet.

Question, should I expect similar results with my 8X57? I would like to use Hornady 170 SSTs in my V?? with a 1:9.5 twist

Thoughts?

Over the years my 8mm's have been very tolerent of various bullet weights, although my current Yugo M48 seems to have a definite preference for 200 grain Nosler Custom Competions when shot on targets at longer ranges.

But it does just fine* on pigs with .322", 170 grain Winchester Silvertip flatnoses meant for the .32 Winchester Special.

* Keep in mind that better than 90% of the pigs that I've shot with it were within 40 yards.

I've used factory 8x57IS with 198gr FMJ heads and handloads with 200gr FMJ heads. All were accurate enough to hit 1 square metre targets at 900m in my Yugo M48.
