Howdy, folks. I bought a 10rnd Pro-Mag for my Ruger P89 9mm. When I load 7 rounds into the mag, it starts to rattle. I put 8 and 9 rounds in it, it's quiet. When I put my 10th into the magazine, it rattles again. I haven't been able to take it out to the range because I'm a little broke this pay period. I just started noticing the rattling this morning. Is it safe? Would I be able to trust it when it counts?

It is pretty common for double-column magazines to rattle because not every round is under the direct pressure of the spring. Chances are it will quiet down when loaded into the gun against the closed slide. This in itself is not a reason to reject the mag. Having said that, Pro-Mag, historically, has not had a good track record for reliability - for example, the one feeding malfunction I ever had with my SIG P228 was with a Pro-Mag. You may get a good one, or you may not. The only way to find out is by shooting.

Rattling rounds in a Pro-Mag is the least of your worries.

Hope it works for you, but I've had more bad Pro-Mag than good, but the good ones have held up well.

Mags will rattle, doesnt mean anything.

The big problem with your magazine is that its stamped Pro-Mag on the side.

Pro-Mag makes the absolute crappiest magazines I have ever seen. If the rattle is your magazines only problem I would be surprised. Dont be shocked if that magazine turns your normally reliable weapon into a jam-tastical pistol.
