I was thinking about buying a rcbs auto primer. Thought I would ask here to get some imput. Anyone got one or got other brand?

Press mounted? Bench mounted?

I have the bench mounted version. It works great. very reliable and easy to use. I no longer use it as the priming system on my LnL is very reliable.

RCBS also has it available in an APS strip version.

Been using the tube setup on my Rockcrusher for a long time. I got tired of swapping plungers so I bought a Lee and use it for small primer calibers. I like it.

RCBS primer tools...

Dirt Digger--I set up a bud with the RCBS bench-mounted strip priming tool--his works slick. We also got him the loader for the strips, so he could re-use the strips and not have to buy the primers pre-inserted. That gizmo works slick too.

If you're talking hand-held priming systems, I use the Lee Auto-prime and it also works slick. The RCBS hand-held is sturdier than the Lee (and more expensive) but has a good reputation.

I use the Autoprime and love it. I load on Dillons but do practically all my priming on the Autoprime. It gives me an excellent feel for the primer seating and I NEVER have high primers in any of my ammo. This is important since most of my loading is for gas rifles.

I was looking at the bench mount. I have the rcbs hand held primer I like the way you can feel the primers seat with it. Thought about setting it up for one caliber 223 I load a lot of them. Does it have the same feel.

If anything, the auto prime gives you a better feel for what you're doing and a greater degree of control. Plus it doesn't wear out your hand after a few hundred cases.

I also use the bench mounted primer. I really like it. If you're going to do a lot of the same calibers, I'd recommend some spare primer tubes.
