Just curious, who use's RCBS X-dies. And if so how do you like them.
I shoot mostly my M1 Garand & FN-49 in 06.. And I'm sick and tired of trimming brass after 2-3 reloading:banghead:
Just not sure if I should buy the small base die or the standard die:confused:

I've been using the standard RCBS X-Die in .30/06 for reloading in my Garand and they work great!!!

No trimming at all after the initial trim. In all that I've read, no one has recommended the SB dies for the Garand.

I tried them for .30-06 but didn't care for them.
I use Dillon's spray lube for sizing and found I was getting lots of lube dents on the case shoulders if I didn't wipe the shoulders down prior to sizing.
I've gone back to using my Dillon does.
I don't get any lube dents when I use my Dillon dies.

I use Imperial Die Wax; when I slop on too much, I dent cases, too. When I don't (which is 'way more the common practice now, since I've gotten used to the feel for how much is required) I have no problems, and my cases are on their 9th reload without a retrim. Yes, I love my X-die. I used to have to trim every second firing.

You're right about the lube. I could most likely eliminate the problem by going back to lubing with a pad like I used to do, but I really do like the convenience of the spray.
I was wondering if this sizing die might be defective. In contrast to my Dillon die, I've never seen any sign the little pressure relief hole in the RCBS sizer is working. It wouldn't surprise me to discover the hole is not positioned properly to bleed off pressure at the shoulder.

I'd call RCBS. That should be as much as it costs you. Their warranty service is the best in the gun-related products industry
