re: Hogue stock on the Rem. 700 SPS tactical

I'm looking to pick up a 700 SPS Tactical soon, and have a question. personally, I like the feel and comfort of the Hogue stock on these. However, I have read a few times that when you add a Harris bipod this this gun, this set-up allows the barrel to now touch the stock.

Furthermore, I read where at least a couple folks have stiffened up the front of stock somehow to alleviate this, but I haven't seen how they do it. Is there a tried-and-true (and easy ) way to do this?

You can (from what I've read on THR) you can use a dremel, or sandpaper to clear out the front end a bit (the bedding block).

I have done nothing to my stock and it touches a little bit on a bipod but i dont think it
is applies any pressure. With Federal GMM it shoots .5 moa so if accuracy is impaired by this it can't be much and i'm not worried about it.
