I was at my LGS last week just mainly looking for ammo and some clean stuff when it happened to me. I wondered past the used section and found a LNIB Glock 22 Gen.4 pistol. (Seriously, I think the little empty cartridge in the envelope has been the only round through it.) The price was too good to pass up and just like that I was back in the cult.

I still like the feel of my XD9 way better (the reason I got rid of my Gen. 3 G19) but not having anything in .40 this fits the bill for when its the only caliber on the shelf. I'll take it out sometime relatively soon. I'll skip the range report because it'll be the same as every other Glock range report. (It was reliable, the grip is a little too fat and it shot accurate enough for a duty style pistol, etc...)

I have never been a fanboy of these pistols but for the money they a good choice. The only "real gripe" I have is the texture on the grip is too sharp but even that isn't TOO bad. Also, I used to always like the "U" outline rear sight design.

It's almost like no matter how hard you try... even sell-off the one you already have...sooner or later... you'll can't help but have some form of Glock in your collection. I like it so far and for its intended role, it'll work well for me.

I carry a issued one daily and consider them a fine weapon. I only own one. I bought it NIB at a steal of a price, carried it home and have never shot it.
 
I just rejoined the Glock tribe too.....
Gen4 G26, as I wanted a 9mm for when I tire of paying for 45ACP rounds...

The Glocks that I have owned have all been boringly reliable (well, one did hiccup during the first 100 rounds, but soon smoothed out)
 
I've got a Gen3 22 and it's proven to be an all around winner: flawless operation through some 3,000 rounds, accurate, smooth trigger and pleasant to shoot. I liked mine so much I put a CTC laser on it several years ago. It too has been flawless.

I say I've got it, actually my son does and the Gen3 G26 with CTC laser too. He likes them both; his wife favors the 26.
 
I've got a few...thousands of rounds through them without any issues.....you get spoiled shooting them because if another gun has an issue it's the end of the world.
 
I once joined the Cult but got out pretty quick. Had the G26 and it was boringly reliable but the triggers suck so I got out and never will return. I have seen the light of the XD subcompact and am forever happy, no more koolaid for me :p.
 
I've got many rounds through my Gen4 G22 without issues. It's the pistol I'd grab on the run if I had to grab a pistol and run.

There are prettier pistols, but none I've ever used is more reliable or less picky about ammo.
 
I bought my first Glock before most folks ever heard of them. Right around the time they opened a small facility in Smyrna, GA..

All in all, I had a 19,17 & 22. Didn't care for any of them and will never own another.

If they work for you, great. They didn't for me.
 
Glock has done an amazingly good job of advertising to law enforcement agencies, which is why I believe they are so prevalent. I think a lot of people simply buy them because they see the majority of officers out there carrying them and think "If if is what the cops carry... It must be the best."

I do tech work for my County PD and know lots of LEOs who are not fond of Glocks so either purchase their own sidearm or carry the thing anyway. I am, by no means, a Glock hater, but I have never understood the massive following that they have. Still, I would trust my life with one, even though I think you can do much better for around the same price point.
 
I've been carrying my Model 23 for about 20 years. I've often said that I couldn't ask for a finer combat handgun. I just bought a Gen 4 model 27 for an off-duty/concealed carry weapon.
Nothing to dislike. Simple, reliable, effective. Accurate enough...More accurate than my elderly eyes, anyway.
Unlovely? Sure. Do I care? Not at all.

The recently published history of Glock shows that the firm did indeed market very heavily to law enforcement, seeing that as the wedge into the market. If the cops will buy them...So will others.
And I well remember the resistance. "plastic guns". "Tupperware". Glock won 'em all over. One local department threw one out of a helicopter. Worked fine.

Now, all that being said, or department is changing over to the Sig P229. In fact, I do the training/shooting when I go back to work Thursday.
The reasoning behind this is somewhat murky. I raised questions....Did not receive any concrete answers. I don't care, really, the Sig is a good gun if somewhat more complex than the Glock.
I'll carry whatever they give me.
 
I had no interest in Glocks for twenty years until a friend bought one and let me try it out. I immediately bought a G19 and it has relegated the others in its class strictly to range duty. What's not to like? Accuracy, reliability, consistent trigger, cheap parts, cheap and plentiful mags, and eats whatever its fed. It won't win any beauty contests but for a working tool, who cares?

My "Gold Standard" for carry .45ACP has been the S&W CS45. I have seen G36/G30SF mutation and can honestly say the 'Gold Standard' has met more then it's match. You should really try some plastic stuff.
