If it is a good shoot it is good.
Still one has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt they are innocent.
This costs not only money and time, also emotions, mental stresses, taxes family stability , and job security.
Civil action still may be filed against you, if are not found guilty.
You may win and survive all this, still it costs money, and it may cost a job, the ability to get another job, divorce, seeing your kids, and so much more.
Now substitute Non-Firearm Weapon for using a gun and having to shoot.
In a courtroom, even that broom you grabbed the janitor uses , to defend yourself is going to be called a "weapon".
One second, just a dull , old boring took to sweep a floor, and the next a weapon as it was used in a defensive manner.
Same broom if used by a criminal would be viewed as a weapon too.
Problem 2 is real.
Evil is real too.
Prevention, not going to where trouble is, evading when trouble shows up is wise, and goes a long way to not having Problem 2.
If one cannot evade, and must deal with trouble, Problem 2 is going to happen.
While the intent of the user of any tool, be it firearm or non-firearm as to what a tool does, not the tool itself -
A Jury of one's peers does not mean 12 folks with the exact same interpretations of self defense, political views, skills sets, life experiences as one that is brought to trial.
There is nothing wrong with tools that can be used to defend with.
One is wise to not put all stock into inanimate objects to keep them safe, and that just because they had to defend, they will not be charged, or found guilty.

Another is good footwear and evading quickly when trouble shows up where you were first.
