My sister-in-law works at Barnes & Noble's bookstore, and almost always gives books as Christmas gifts. She asked me recently what titles I might be interested in, so I looked around online and browsed briefly instore.
I'm just getting back into shooting and (re)building my collection from scratch, probably almost entirely with used guns that I'd like to have a ballpark idea of the fair value of. What is the most useful of the gun-value "Blue Books" out there? My gun interests so far: I seem to be gravitating towards handguns, good maintenance, 1911, plinking, and home- and self-defense, and for now I'll stick to bowhunting. B&N has these titles that caught my eye, can anyone give them a thumbs up or thumbs down?
In the Gravest Extreme: The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection
by Massad F. Ayoob
Tactical Pistol by Gabriel Suarez, Jeff Cooper
Gun Digest 2007 by Ken Ramage (Editor)
The Gun Owner's Handbook: A Complete Guide to Maintaining and Repairing Your Firearms by Larry Lyons
Do-it-Yourself Gun Repair by Edward A. Matunas
Gun Digest Book of Combat Handgunnery by Massad F. Ayoob, Chuck Taylor
Gun Digest Book of the 1911 by Patrick Sweeney
Effective Handgun Defense by Frank W. James, Kevin Michalowski
Other recommendations from B&N? Any classics I should have? Any reviews and advice are greatly appreciated.
