realistic group size

What size groups could I realisticly expect to get
if I build them right??

I think that what you're asking is what size groups you can expect to get from your Redhawk at 25 yards. I shoot mine at 50 yards with iron sites and get 4 to 5 inches so at 25 yards you should be able to get 2.5 inch or better groups. I don't use the powder you're using though so I have no idea what your combination can theoretically give you.

I intend to experiment with different loads with mine when I have more time because I think it should do better. I'd be happy with 4 to 5 inch groups at 100 yards.

I think the Gun ( A near New SuperRedhawk ) is good.
I will slug the Barrel and Cylinders
( quick checked them when I first got the gun.
The .44 SemiJacketed Soft Point...(Magnatech)
Just barely hung on the mouth of all 6 cylinders; before falling through
when dropped from the rear of the cylinders
and
The same bullet stopped in the forceing cone when pushed (gentely) fromk the rear.

I think I am doing my part...
( Other better shooters than me have tried and can't do much better than I)

Lets work on the load.
I've got 500 of the Magnateck 240 SJSP
I'm stuck with them for a while at least.
I am up for trying another Powder

What can you all suggest?
Give me Accuracy Loads for .44 using the 240 Magnatech
Any Powder

Win 296/H110 is a very good powder for accurate loads in .44 Mag caliber. Shooting from rest with S&W M629 Classic, 6.5" barrel, 2X Leupold scope, I get 5 shot groups of 3.0 inches or less when sighting in at 75 yds (or did last year when I could still see). I use 240 gr Nosler jacketed bullets or 255 gr cast bullets from H&G mould. Check Winchester or Hodgdon loading data for safe loads.

To my thinking the 3 factors from your first post that will affect the group size are:
Leupold 4x
From a rest
25 Yards.

Given that a SRH is an accurate revolver and using almost any well constructed round, I feel all 6 shots should be touching at that short of a distance. I have the same setup as you (SRH + Leupold 4x) and mine will do that with reloads from a rest.

How's your trigger control? Even from a good steady rest, bad trigger control can yield some very bad groups.

What type of rest are you using? Are you using a Delta (triangular shaped prop) or a true rest such as a pistol perch or sandbags?

Disclaimer: This load data works fine in the sixguns I've shot. Your mileage may differ.

I'll agree. The SRH's that have come through my shop have shot very well. People bring them wanting scopes mounted. I sight them mostly with the Lyman 429421 and 23 grs of H-110. I've yet to see one that wouldn't shoot under 3" at 50 yards.

Hey you got to do the leg work! If you want to accurate that means time at the reloading bench then the range. Next, you need to look at using jacket bullets for high end loads and cast lead slugs for plinking loads. So, you need to go back to the bench! Do the some research! Not let other people give you ideas!

I would look at 296 or H110 as a great powder to work with on high end loads. I really like the Sierra 180JHP and a health dose of 296! IMR 4227 is a good choice too!

Every gun is a rule unto itself! That means what works in one person's gun might not in your gun!

I "Think" my trigger control is OK ( but doesn't everyone)
I have asked better shooters than I; to try my reloads in my gun.
They have not had much better luck than I.

You say you have a Leupold 4x on a SRH as well.
This is my first experience with an Optical Pistol Sight
The 4X is proving quite a challenge to me
Just "staying behind it properly".
I understand that if you are not directly in line with the optical axis…you get errors in sighting/alignment.
How can I assure myself that I am using it correctly?
Any Hints?

What would you recommend as a couple of " consistent performers" using 240 SJSP.
Powder ?
Weight?
