I have some really old(at least 75 years or more) gun powder that was in some of my stepfather's stuff when he died a number of years ago it is a small glass jar(about the size of a small baby food jar) of a sample of "Frei's Peerless Powder". it was manufactured in Chapman , Nebraska by Fred Frei jr. it is white in color and the granules look about the size of 2400.

any ideas of the history of this stuff?

I don't have any idea if it would be considered smokeless , semi-smokeless if there is such a thing or blackpowder. what loading information that is on the jar is in drams and I think that would be a blackpowder equivalent

semi-smokless existed in the era before the general use of smokless...it was meant to bulk up the same as black powder...a huge percentage of the hunters of the day reloaded. King's Semi Smokless is the only one I can name. used dram for dram in place of black in shotshell reloading.

POWDER

I USED DUPONT BULK SHOTGUN THAT WAS THE COLOR.I WONDER ABOUT
ANY ONE MAKING SMOKELESS,AS IT SEEMS IT WOULD TAKE QUITE AN OPERATION.WHATEVER IT IS IT WILL MAKE GOOD FERTILIZER IN THE GARDEN.
NITRATS YOU KNOW.
TEDDY.
