In the process of replacing the original sights on my SIG P250, I have encountered an unusual bit of engineering. While the front sight was no problem sliding the old sight out and the new one into the dovetail, for some reason known only to SIG Sauer, the rear sight is not in a dovetail, but instead forms part of the retainer for the firing pin at the rear of the slide. I have tried depressing the firing pin to slide the sight out through the top of the slide, but the firing pin does not depress deeply enough to permit lifting out the sight.
Has anybody had any experience with the P250 rear sight? Can anybody suggest a procedure for removal and replacement? I am reluctant to simply drive pins out without knowing what will come flying out.
Any suggestions will be apprciated.
