Reason for buying a particular gun

Well it's not a handgun but... A friend of mine gave me 5 rounds of Russian 7.62x54r. I didn't have a Mosin....... Now my wife blames him for my new "addiction". :D

When my dad passed away I found several hundred rounds of .45 in his closet, but no .45 to shoot them with.

So I bought a 1911. It seemed like a silly reason to get another gun at the time, but it has quickly become one of my favorite handguns.

I bought a used STI LS-40 because I didn't have anything in 40sw and I thought it looked neat...

Does that count?

I don't even think I WANT it, but the Colt Defender falls off the California Roster March 12th and then I'll never be able to buy one.

I'm having a problem living with "can't never", soooooooo - - - -

I buy a new gun when I am board of my other guns. No wonder I have so many guns. It's sick....we are all sick!!

I have an interesting story to tell about how I acquired my namesake - my one and only .45 semi-automatic, a Colt Model 1991A1 Stainless.

It was way back in the spring of 95' and I was burning with desire for a Ruger Blackhawk .357 Magnum in stainless steel. I'd recently come into some money and wanted to add several guns to my collection, the Blackhawk among them. I spotted one for sale at a small shop in Burtonsville, but I didn't see anything else that caught my fancy and didn't like thier attitude so I thought I'd try my luck elsewhere.

The following week I was in White Marsh browsing through the cases and spotted two revolvers on my wish list. However they didn't have the Blackhawk and weren't sure how quickly they could get one in stock. That's when an idea came to me. I walked down the counter looking at the semi-automatics and selected the Colt, figuring that I could take it down to the other shop later on and swap it for the Blackhawk. Sounds ridiculous now but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

They gave me a sweet deal on the three and eight business days later I took them all home. For one reason or another, I've forgotten just what, I couldn't make it to Burtonsville and in the meantime I'd fondled the Colt enough to start to like it. When a co-worker who'd been a chopper pilot in Vietnam showed me how to disassemble it some weeks later I was completely hooked and it only took one trip to the range for me to fall head over heels in love with the gun.

I never did get that Blackhawk.

Oh well. :)

"I just turned 21." Kimber Polymer.

"It looks cool, and I could probably get half of my money if I sold the drum." Thompson 1927. Purchased about two years ago.

"I told him I'd buy it if he decided to sell it." - More recently, with a buddy's Kimber.

"My other longarms are EBRs. This one looks more PC." Unfired 10-22, maybe two hours ago. Ironicly, I've been looking at folding stocks for it.

"Ruger Vaquero SS 357 - Saw it the day my daughter was born"

Sorry to sidetrack, but what the hell were you doing looking at guns while your daughter was being born? :neener: :neener: :neener:

i bought a p89 just before the ban just because it was a high cap. i dont even particularly care for 9mm. come to think of it i bought a .380 colt mustang because i didnt have anything in that caliber at the time

I bought a Bersa .380 just because everyone on this and other forums kept ranting and raving about how great they were. Sold it 3 weeks later.

I bought a Sig 229 just because it was a good deal even though I hated the way they feel. Sold it about a moth later. :banghead:
