Reason for Ruger recall of SR-9

A young friend told me his father is thinking about buying a handgun. He likes Ruger, and asked me for information/advice etc. He likes Ruger, I do also.

I know Ruger recalled their SR-9 and also that new little 380.

But I don't know the exact reason for the recall. I have some idea but couldn't verify it. Can someone tell me authoritatively why the recall?

I know a couple real serious Ruger fans and they both claim the company's QC had gone to (expletive deleted) since Bill died. Don't know that of my own experience as my "Ruger" days go back to the original Flat Top SAs. It's happened to other companies in all kinds of manufacturing so I wouldn't be surprised.

They were recalled to install a trigger safety. The SR9 is a very nice 9mm. All three of my kids have one and they love 'em.
