There are rifles that after they get threaded and chambered in the lathe, they still need extractor relief cuts on the mill, and that makes them a big pain to rebarrel, like the Springfield 1903, Sav 99, Mosin Nagant, and 1885 Win.
Then there are rifles that the barrel is cylindrically symmetrical, except the threads, like the 98 Mauser, Sav 110, and Rem 700. All the work is done in the lathe.
