I have a Ruger SBH pre-warning blued .44 in 90+ cond. I bought this year to replace my old stainless one sold off a few years back to cover some hunting dues...LOVE the gun. I was halfway thinking of having it bobbed to like 5 or 5.5" of so....who does this kind of service well and reasonable? I assume it would need a bob, squaring up, recrown, and sights re-welded back on and maybe a touch-up or refinish of the barrel...what would be the rough cost of this and where would you go/who would you trust?....I looked at magna-port....but MY GAWD!! and I don't really want it ported anyway.

Figure on $150-$200 for shortening a single action barrel with a remounted factory front sight (actually silver soldered). More for a custom front sight, which will always be my preference. I've personally used Jim Stroh of Alpha Precision and David Clements. Hamilton Bowen, Alan Harton, Ben Forkin, Andy Horvath, John Linebaugh, Dustin Linebaugh and many others are all highly regarded.
