Removing the mag disconnect is a risk, anyone who says there is no risk doesn't understand the legal system. All that can be argued about is how MUCH risk there is.
The disconnect is a safety feature, if you remove any safety feature there is the possibility, some would argue probability, that it will come back to haunt you in court should you ever be faced with the unlikely event of having to shoot someone. It really doesn't matter if there has never been a single prosecution based on this fact, or if there has been a million, it's just common sense to expect that any "good" lawyer would use the removal of safety features as de facto evidence that you as a gun owner were irresponsible and had turned a "safe" pistol into a baby killer. This view is not prejudiced by the fact that BHPs lacking a mag disconnect have been used in several self defence shootings with no problem.
There are a lot of morons out there sitting on juries, and they are easily influenced by anything that comes out of a lawyer's mouth.
For the record, I have a FEG HiPower and the first thing I did was to remove that lousy device, I view it as a way of improving safety, specifically my safety, because in the case that the magazine is improperly seated, at least I get one shot. But I would never carry it (if I could), even though it is my favorite pistol.
You may disagree with this view, but I assure you it's good advice.
