I just recently bought a stainless, Italian made 92FS. I believe it to be an Inox, but I don't see that term anywhere on the pistol. What would be a sure indication that it is, or isn't, an Inox?

They don't say Inox. If it's stainless it's an Inox. is the trigger, hammer, safety etc. also stainless, or are they black. If they are stainless than you have a rarer Inox.

Why not put a photo up.

They're great guns

The whole gun is stainless; trigger, slide release, saftey, mag release, event the two factory mags that came with the gun. I bought it used last weekend, for $500. Other than a bit of normal wear, it seems to be in good shape. I do know, for sure, that the gun is at least 10 years old, as I bought it from a friend of mine.

If it's an Inox it will have the word "Stainless"

1) on the end of the slide below the barrel
2) and on top of the barrel.

The frame is not stainless but anodized aluminum.

INOX is just a fancy Italian word for stainless steel.
You do know the frames are still anodized aluminum, right?

Just so you know, if your magazines are indeed, stainless/INOX, they are no longer being made. In good condition, these mags now sell for $75 to $100 A PIECE.

There should be a date stamp on your trigger guard, two letters, which can tell you when your gun was made.

In any case, they don't make 92FS like yours anymore, all metal parts, made in Italy, straight dust cover, etc. What you paid for that gun was a steal - well done! (You owe your friend a beer!)

(If your mags look like this one, you hit the jackpot!)

One mag looks exactly like the one in your pic. Another is stainless steel, with a black plastic floor plate. A third looks to be a run-of-the-mill blue factory mag with a black plastic floor plate. I've no idea if the SS mag with the black floor plate came that way, or if the floor plate was a replacement. I'm assuming it came that way.

On the right side of the frame, just above the trigger, is a box which contains the letters "BF". I assume that indicates the year of manufacture. Of course, I've not a clue as to what year "BF" represents because I'm pretty much "Beretta retarded" :D

Anyway, other than a set of black plastic Beretta grips, held in place by screws which require a small allen wrench to remove, mine looks exactly like yours.

How much is this gun worth?

'BF' is date code for 1995. Exact value cannot be known through text only. Post pics if you want to determine value but generally $500 would be decent deal for yours assuming condition is on par with others' pics.

Thanks!

Other than wearing a set of black plastic Beretta grips, mine looks exactly like, and is in the same condition, as benderx4's.

Thanks!

I sent a few rounds down range just after buying it last weekend. First shot DA is going to take some getting used to, as I've been blasting away with Springfield XD's for the past several years.

This one is mine. Went into my LGS to buy an AR lower and saw it for $525. I thought it over for the night to make sure I wasnt making an impulse buy. Couldnt get the Beretta out of my head all night and was back in the shop the next day within five minutes of them opening, lol. Inox 92FS was always on my short list and I couldnt be happier. My only complaint is that the recoil and muzzle rise is so nil that I shoot too fast. LOL, a good problem to have I suppose. :D

Now sports Hogue panels, should update my album.

Spentcasing is correct - your gun was made in 1995. In excellent condition, with original case, paperwork and two matching INOX mags, I've seen these guns fetch $700 - $800 regularly on Berettaforum.net. In fact, I've sold two of these myself for $750 including the one pictured above. (I've still got two more that aren't going anywhere.) Great buy! (BTW, a new "D" hammer spring will make your first DA pull MUCH, MUCH better - easy to do yourself too!)

Benderx4, love those handsome stainless mags. :)

Bedair Checkered Steel Recoil Guide Rod, Wolff (INS) RP Trigger Conversion Unit, Beretta Elite II Skeleton Hammer, Beretta Extended Knurled Mag Release, "D" Hammer Mainspring, Beretta Presentation Deluxe Grip Set (P/N UD99016), Hogue Extreme Stainless Hex-Head Grip screws and polished barrel, extractor and controls.

EAJ: Beautiful! Wow! How did you polish up the barrel and controls? I just bought a pair of those same exact grips and put them on my latest INOX. Beretta has the same ones for sale again only with gold medallions. (I think your gun is screaming for an INOX mag!)

Thanks Benderx4, I'm pleased with the results.

I disassembled the pistol and sent the trigger pin & bar, mag catch assembly, disassembly lever and button, slide stop, extractor & pin, and barrel to Todd at Customized Creationz for polishing. Took about five months, but they did a good job.

Yes, I did notice the recent sale on the gold medallion grips. Occasionally they have the presentation grips on sale.

Stainless mags would certainly be an excellent and final addition to compliment the pistol. ;)

That's a beautiful gun. Very nice. I may have to pick up a 92 some day.
