Looking over packing.org according to their information PA doesnt reciprocate with Texas... The information at the Sheriffs office says different. Im sure theres more that need to be added on thier site, Texas is the only one ive confirmed.

Im not sure how to contact packing.org to suggest an update, perhaps someone here does know how.

Just thought Id share an interesting change.

Florida
Georgia

DarkKnight01...

I just tried to get on packing.org but could not, maybe server problems. But I am sure that there is some sort of method to contact them and relay this information. In doing so I would highly recommend that you get some sort of reference that they can use to confirm this information.

And thanks for taking the time to help update a good information source.

They should set federal guidelines based on the "best practices" of a few of the good states laws and enable portability at the Federal level assuming the states laws met the minimum criteria set by the feds. This is one issue where state rights can get confusing and get you into trouble.

This state by state stuff is turning out to be a crap shoot and I value my freedom.

Packing.org works for me at this moment.

They've been having a serious troll problem for the past few months, so I've been mostly avoiding the place except to check whether there have been any reciprocity updates from time to time.

The best way to get something changed vis a vis the reciprocity listings is to just post a message under the "Laws" section, pointing out what you have found, and the evidence you have to back up your finding. One of the admins will notice and act accordingly.

IF you value yoru freedom you will keep the FEDs OUT!!

What they would consider "best practices" more than likely you would consider Worst practices.

I agree that this State by State stuff is wrong and needs to be done away with.

As far as what type of Federal law should be put in place:

It should be the same as the other amendments of the Bill of Rights. 1st Amendment safeguards our right of free speach across all 50 states. Other amendments carry across all 50 states too. 2nd Amendment should be carried across all 50 states as well. The law should give a life-time license to purchase and carry handguns thru all 50 states. They can charge a one-time license fee of less than $100 and process the license in two weeks or less.

I think that the above is better situation than we currently have.

Actually, rather than new legislation, I'd rather see the elements of the Constitution that already cover these topics put into full force:

-2A means what it says and
-"Full faith and credit" of the states apply to this topic as well.

It is a good idea to get your legal information directly from the source, not packing.org or even THR. They are good references and can generally point you in the right direction, but they still make mistakes and it is you that may wind up in trouble.

DarkKnight01---from the PA-Att Gen'l Site:

Interesting, thx for the info... im more likely to believe what they have there than what was sitting on the desk at the sheriffs office... Ill do some more looking into it, on the other side of the coin maybe the attorneygenerals website needs to be updated lol... I know that texas as a whole is very pro gun and working on reciprocity with more and more states everyday.

Either way I wont carry in texas til I get to the bottom of this =)
