im currently shooting a 308 win and considering a 7 mm rem mag I have had a 7mm rem mag before but had the Boss recoil was nothing.. if no Boss how much diff in recoil between the 308 amd 7 mm rem mag

Depending on the individual load and the weight of the rifle recoil can vary a bunch. Generally speaking in guns of equal weight most people could never tell the difference in recoil between a 7 mag and 30-06.

Using this website http://www.handloads.com/calc/recoil.asp a 7 mag shooting a 140 gr Bullet @ 3300 fps will generate about 22 ft lbs of recoil. My 30-06 shooting 165 gr bullets@ 2900 fps will generate about 21.5 ft lbs of recoil. A 308 will be around 17 ft lbs with 165's. When you get into the 300 mags shooting hot loads with 180 gr or heavier bullets you start getting closer to 28-30 ft lbs.

A lighter rifle will recoil more, but I figured these at 8 lbs. That is a pretty typical weight including optics and mounts.

if you are already worried about increase in recoil stay with your .308. There isnt a huge difference in ballistics between the two until you start shooting past 250 yards.

Recoil will be a bit more but not a ton. The 7mm Rem Mag has been my go to round for over 20 years. It shoots flat but provides lots of knock down power. I have never had any recoil issues with it and it groups exceptionally.
