Hi everyone,
I have another para-usa gun rights. I want to replace my stack recoil spring to 14lbs and main spring from stack to 19lbs. What the good brand of spring in full size 1911 45acp. The other said ISMI and WOLFF. I need 14lbs recoil and 19lbs main spring. This gun is for everyday CCW.

Wolff...or ISMI.

Just curious. Why do you want to drop the mainspring to 19 pounds?

A bunch of very smart people...including the man who is arguably a firearms design genius...burned a lotta midnight oil working out the correct mainspring rate for the 1911 pistol. What is to be gained with a 20% change?

Maybe a better question would be: What is to be lost?

I use ISMI recoil springs in my 1911s.

I put 16 Lb springs in 5" .45s and 14 Lb springs in 5" 9MM or .38 Super guns. Works well for me.

The hammer spring needs to be right as well. They work together.

A 19 Lb recoil spring will slam the slide back home harder than intended/designed for.

It is always endlessly entertaining to watch folks "improve" their 1911 by switching to heavier and lighter springs. No Yin. No Yang. No balance.

Thank you tuner. Now i stay in 23 main spring and 14lbs ismi recoil spring. Its work very fine.

Along these lines, and something I searched for but didn't find an answer is: I have an old S&W 645. It's had several thousand rounds through it, but I hadn't thought about the recoil spring being worn out until I got my new SR1911. The new 1911 shoots so much more smoothly right out if the box that I have to wonder if I need to replace the recoil spring in the 645. How do you know when it's time?
