Hello, I posted a while pack on here that I was looking for a coyote gun. At the time i was looking for a bolt action rifle, well after reading everyones posts I ended up getting a bushmaster ar15 a3/m4 with 5.56/.223 and a 1/9 twist. Now I am looking for the right bullet to use for coyotes. I am looking for minimal pelt damage. Right now I am thinking I am going to use a 55 grain soft point. I have also noticed cabelas sells a Fiocchi 50 grain V-max. Would you recommend either of these 2....or any other?

barnes makes a .22cal 50 grn(I think it's 50, might be 55) varmint grenade specifically for 1:10 or faster twist guns. I've always been impressed with the terminal perfomance and accuracy I've got from barnes bullets. The varmint grenades are frangible so there is little chance of a large exit wound. barnes would be somthing to consider.

my personal favorites are #1 Hornady A-max 40-60 grain (whatever yours shoots well) and #2 midsouth's varmint nightmares in 55 grain (great bargain bullets that fly very well and go off like a tactical bomb on yotes)

Like frog stated that Barnes 50 gr varmint grenade may be the way to go, not supposed to exit when loaded to Barnes specs, and they're long enough to seat out to within 0.010" or so of the lands on most chambers. The bullet is a throwback from a"green" (lead free) project that Barnes undertook for the military, so shooting it in an AR platform should work out well.
