(This thread has been tentatively approved by xavierbreath-- blame him!)

We get a lot of IANAL here on THR. Surely those more astute among the whole have consulted with a lawyer and gotten advice they'd trust enough to act on.

So here's your chance. Have you found a lawyer that gives free/reasonably compensated legal advice? Will they permit you to post their contact info? Post it here. Good business for them, good advice for us.

Ideally I'd like to see one or two for each state, with e-mail addresses or phone numbers.

Then perhaps some mod can edit this down and sticky it, once the whole process is through.

What say you, folk?

On what issue? Criminal defense? Wills and trusts? Intellectual property? Corporate? Employment? Antitrust?

Most specialize to some degree. None are good at everything.

OK, allow me to elaborate. I did not, at first.

IANAL on this forum, being The High Road, which discusses firearms for self-defense, is most often applied when giving advice regarding the legality (or lack thereof) regarding certain actions taken in self-defense. usually involving a firearm.

So, legal advice for firearm use, self defense, etc.

(low road content preemptively removed and pasted into an e-mail to my therapist  )

Utah- Mitch Vilos.

You should not only keep his card in your wallet under your CCW permit, you should buy and read his comprehensive book on Utah gun law.

He represented the AOL employees who were fired for having guns in property, and lobbies for reform in Utah's gun laws.

New Jersey

Evan F. Nappen
www.evannappen.com
(732) 389-8888 (Law Office)

He has written a couple of books on NJ laws concerning firearms and other weapons, and does seminars around the state for gun owners, hunters, etc.

My attorney is neither free nor even reasonably priced. In order to be represented by him, a minimum level of formal training (both tactical and legal) is required and he only accepts a fraction of the clients that request his services.

When it comes to doctors or lawyers, you get what you pay for :)

More so than any of that, he managed to get "Super Dell" acquitted of his weapons charge. Winning when your client is that jury-unfriendly takes some skill. :p

Interesting post, Pax. I'm a lawyer in Texas and have been wondering if it would be useful for me to build an expertise in this area. I can't work for free, but I can work for cheaper than most other attorneys. This post may help me make that decision.
