I'm looking to make my own bullets. The largest rifles I own right now shoot .308 Winchester and 7.62x54R. Big bore bullets may be in my future a few years down the road but not right now. .458 SOCOM would probably be my first big bore so the Corbin CSP-1 S-press (.12 to .458 caliber) would keep me happy for many years to come. Of course the Walnut Hill press is cheaper and can do .50 cal.

These are the presses I've found. I was amazed at the price differences between RCE and Corbin. Is Corbin really that much better? Am I missing any other brands?

RCE presses (basic) run at $250 or $350:

Corbin presses are much more expensive:
http://www.corbins.com/prices.htm
http://www.corbins.com/prices.htm#csp-1

* CSP-1 --------- S-PRESS, with punch holder, handle retainer --- 598.00
* CSP-2 --------- Mega-Mite Press without floor stand ----------- 998.00
* CSP-S --------- Floor stand for CSP-1 or CSP-2 ---------------- 398.00
* CSP-2S -------- Mega-Mite Press with floor stand ------------- 1396.00

Corbin is 4x the price to do .50 cal.

RCE is Richard Corbin, the brother. Both make quality tools and you wouldn't go wrong with either one, but Richard usually has better prices.

I've talked to him, and he's a nice guy.

Hope this helps.

There are other options available, from modifying RCBS Rock Chuckers and the Big frame .50BMG press. Larry Blackmon offers swage presses. You can also inquire with Nemei dies. If fact there is a lot of different die makers that offer modified presses and the how to modify existing presses.

I would not do business with Dave Corbin on a bet (learned the hard way) His brother is a vary different story. For one thing, Rick is honest, just the opposite of his brother.

Wacki, RCBS offers a special ram for the Rock Chucker, one ram is solid, the other is hollow, that is one if you are making one bullet at a time, Herters sold equipment that was designed for making bullets, the shell holders are are different, no primer hole, they were more like an anvil.

There could be a lot of equipment available soon If you have lots of money and want top move, I do not have all of the details but health and age are the factors, and I have a friend in Arlington TX that made a press with a hydraulic assist, I have two Arbor presses that were not reloading related but do a great job of extreme sizing, again for production work, they are slow, but when I want to know something about a chamber, they work.
