Recommend Your Secret Gunsmith!

I have some unusual auto pistol gunsmithing needs coming up, and all the 'smiths around here are either limiting to 1911's or S&W revolvers, and don't want to do specialty stuff anymore. If you have a really good gunsmith that you use, things like custom sight work and milling, or tightening frames/slides other than mainstream, or trigger jobs for non-mainstream guns.....you get the drift. I KNOW there are some fantastic small shops out there that actually ENJOY the challenge of something off the beaten path. Got recommendations? Guys who did unusual work, and who you don't mind plugging? Maybe tell us or show us what they did?

My gunsmith does unusual work. He's had my Para Ordnance for two years now. Unusually long. I think I'll sell it to him. And never go back.
 
Robin Dietrich @ Dietrich Gunsmithy in Otis, ME. He's a very talented young gunsmith, has worked on a number of revolvers and 1911s for me as well as a couple of long guns. He does everything from action work to refinishing to full customs. His work is outstanding, turn around times and prices are very reasonable. He has two of my guns right now, one is a .38 Super Colt 1991A1, it is a full build and will be a 3 caliber gun (9mm, .38 Super, 9x23 Winchester). The other is an old 4" S&W M10 PPC gun that is being modified into a house and range gun for my wife.

Here is an example of his work. This Clark Custom "Meltdown" Colt 1991A1 Compact was refinished by Robin. In addition to the polish and rebluing he removed the rollmarks from the slide, hand checkered the front strap, recrowned the barrel, fitted a checkered S&A MSH, and modified the front sight with a brass insert. As you can see the work is excellent.

Thanks, guys. Like I said, this kid (he's 27) is a heck of a talent. The shop is a father/son business and they're a couple of great guys. They've been working on guns for me since they opened about 6 years ago and I can really tell how Robin's work has evolved. He has a real talent that blends the technical with the artistic. His hobby is long range rifles and he has built some incredible 1000yd guns.

I was by the shop today, he said my Super should be done in a month or so. He wouldn't show it to me, but when I left it I told him to wow me and, from his description of the work he's done so far, it sounds like this should be quite a pistol. I can't wait.
 
WC, PLEASE post pics of that super when he's done with it. I love the pics of that melt gun. It's a thing of beauty.

As for a local gunsmith, JoJos in Southington CT is as good as it gets in my experience. I've had work done by such greats as Mark Morganti from Gemini Customs, and honestly, I'd pit these guys against his work any day. I don't know if they're better, but they are definitely as good.
