I am looking for a light to attach to my rifle for predator hunting (coyotes and foxes). What do you recommend? Additionally, what lens color works best?

Red works best, but I prefer green, I run 2 different lights, one for the 12 ga and one for the .223 (scope mounted) with the red filter I get maybe 60-75 yds outta that one, with the green/12 ga (tube mounted) about 50 yds, really at this point I think I'm just going thermal.... I remember when dad got his first scope mounted light when I was a kid.....after having my own I feel thermal will yield more versatility, every now and then you still get that shy critter on the edges of the shadows, and me being me, a thermal monocular with a thermal scope really gives me a better idea of where to start pointing the gun as opposed to the light system and the shifting and shifting to find and scope.

Thermal, or even atn night vision is not terribly expensive (get the external battery pack) for what we're talking about here. Lights are a cheap gateway and cool at first but if you get serious, it's like a Lee whackamole for a dedicated handloader in my experience.

I don’t think thermal can be beat, even by the best of image intensifier types, the digital NVD’s are at the bottom but even the cheapest work better than a spotlight at not spooking animals.

Back when that’s all we had for hog hunting, we used a 12v marine spotlight that glass had been gone over and over by a red sharpie, the most.
