I am going to have a little more time on my hands than expected this summer. Can I get some recommendations for pro-gun/second ammendment books. So far I've read:

More Guns Less Crime
Unintended Consequences
In the Gravest Extreme
The Bravest Battle
The Declaration

I suggest some Jeff Cooper books.

Fireworks

To Ride, Shoot Straight And Speak The Truth

Another Country

Principles Of Personal Defense

The Art Of The Rifle

That should keep you busy for a while.

for the friends

Lady friends should read - "Armed & Female" by Paxton Quigley

Friends who like true stories should read "The Best Defense" by Rober A. Waters

generalized books on guns freedom etc.

Dial 911 and Die
Death by Gun Control
The State vs. The People
The Mitzvah (novel)
Hope (novel)
(the above 5 available from JPFO)

How about:
  • For Cause and Comrades - McPherson
The Soldier's Tale: Bearing Witness to Modern War - Hynes
My War Gone by, I Miss it so - Loyd
    The Quiet American - Greene
The File: a Personal History - Ash
    Disturbing the Peace - Havel
    Plagues and Peoples - McNeill
    The Cholera Years - Rosenberg
The Gospel of Germs - Tomes
Epidemics: Opposing Viewpoints - Greenhaven Press
Well, that's for the first six weeks anyway.

I'm a Viet-Nam War student/historian. Here are some
of my recommendation's:

Honor Bound: Prisoners Of War In Southeast Asia 1961-1973 *

Hamburger Hill

Chained Eagle **

Marine Sniper

Silent Warrior

One Shot-One Kill

Cheating Death: Air Rescues Viet-Nam and Laos

I"m sure that is enough to get you started? I would have
to give all these titles a 5-STAR rating!

*Desk Reference Book

** Written by Everett Alvarez, Jr. (actual U.S.A. POW 7-1/2 years)

• A relatively new one is "In the Company of Heroes - A True Story" by Michael Durant, the American BlackHawk pilot that was shot down and taken prisioner in Mogadishu. It is great!

• As has been suggested, don't miss "Marine Sniper" by Henderson about Hathcock.

• And for shooting skills and much more, "The Ultimate Sniper", by Plaster.

Enjoy!

Sharpdogs:

check out this THR thread about great gun books to read

Blades: Which translation of "Art of War"?

I already own two, and neither is readable, seem to be translated by
Chiknese literary students, not warriors...

and FWIW I just fininshed Steven Pressman's
Gates of Fire upon the recommendation of the good folks
here at THR; it was outstanding

Hey Glamdring,

"The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" is one of my favorite sci-fi books that I've ever read. Great choice.

The only sci-fi I've ever liked better than that is Asimov's Foundation Trilogy. Amazing that it was written in the 1950's and it's still better than any other sci-fi I've ever read. That guy had amazing vision.

Cheers,
ChickenHawk
