Red dot for mini-14

Hey everyone, I recently got a mini 14 tacticle model, it had the plain stock but recently I bought the ATI folding stock for it. I'm looking to get a decent red dot set up for it, that will hold up and be reliable short of an eotech or aim point although I may consider an aim point pro at some point, this is mainly for HD and target shooting out to 50 yds or so. The ATI stock comes with a front rail that is around 7" I believe that I would like to mount the optic on. I was looking at another rail system as well the utilimak rails look really nice and solid don't know if they will work with the ATI stock? http://ultimak.com/M4-S.htm Are the TRS-25 and newer TRS-35's any good? I have an ultradot on my mini 14 tactical...great price around $150 or less and very good results.

no, not like that one, mine is a little more simple and $100 cheaper, a 1x30 model, but still a reasonable optics for such a rifle.

If you don't want to spend the money for combat grade (Aimpoint or EOTech), you might consider the Vortex Strikefire ($170±). If you are not sure you will like a red dot, Primary Arms makes some for less than $100 and they have a good rep for inexpensive ones. Don't forget the mount (and it's height above bore). The Aimpoint PRO has a high mount to clear the front sight post on an AR-15. Not sure how the EOTech sits as it comes. Aimpoint PRO and the Strikefire will mount with a single 30mm ring but go with a real mount eventually. Primary Arms has inexpensive ones. ADM (among others) makes combat grade ones

Dare I say a Trijicon RMR. It's on the pricey end for sure, but they work very well.
